Outgoing Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati leaves Mizoram

The outgoing Mizoram governor Hari Babu Kambhampati was accorded farewell at the Raj Bhavan by officials of the governor’s office as well as household staff before leaving his official residence at 8 am on Thursday, Raj Bhavan sources said. Kambhampati arrived at the lone Lengpui airport near Aizawl at 9 am where he was received by state chief minister Lalduhoma, assembly speaker Lalbiakzama, home minister K. Sapdanga, chief secretary Khilli Ram Meena, DGP Anil Shukla and other senior officials.

He was accorded guard of honour and national anthem by the band party of the state police before departing from the airport at 11.15 am. He will directly fly to Bhubaneswar and will be sworn-in as the governor of Odhisa on Friday. Kambhampati assumed the gubernatorial post of Mizoram on July 19, 2021 replacing P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and served in the state till January 9, 2025 when Gen. Vijay Kumar Reddy will take over the post from him.

During his tenure as governor of Mizoram, Kambhampati visited a number of places across the state and was concerned with the welfare of the people especially those who could not avail the benefits of central schemes for farmers and workers. He used to urge the state government and the officials to make more efforts in creation of mass awareness about the central schemes for lower sections of the society.
