The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram’s leading student body, on Monday submitted a formal letter to Governor VK Singh, seeking his intervention in the release of pending post-matric scholarship instalments for over 4,000 tribal students.

According to the MZP, while more than 31,000 students had applied for the 2023–24 post-matric scholarship, only 26,909 have received the funds so far. A total of 4,027 students—many studying technical and professional courses outside Mizoram—are still waiting for their final instalment.

The MZP expressed concern over the financial difficulties these students are facing due to the delay. The organisation urged the Governor to take up the matter with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and push for the immediate release of the remaining amount.

In its appeal, the student body warned that prolonged delays could severely impact the academic performance and well-being of affected students. The MZP has called for swift action to ensure that no student is forced to drop out or suffer due to administrative lapses.
