Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the India Mobile Congress 2025 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on Thursday, took a swipe at the Opposition. He recalled how his “Make in India” initiative was initially mocked. “When I first spoke about ‘Make in India’, people ridiculed the idea and questioned how India could manufacture advanced technology. Today, the nation has responded — the same India that once struggled with 2G now has 5G available in nearly every district,” PM Modi stated during his address.
Highlighting India’s technological advancements, he mentioned the recent launch of the indigenous 4G stack, calling it a significant milestone. “India is now among the five countries globally with this capability,” he noted. Modi added that the 4G stack is “export-ready” and will enhance India’s global business outreach, crediting the past decade for a rapid tech revolution.
He also referenced the infamous 2G spectrum case from the UPA era, alleging it symbolized corruption. Though the alleged ₹1.76 lakh crore scam resulted in acquittals in 2017 due to insufficient evidence, the BJP had spotlighted it heavily during the 2014 election campaign.
