In the Champhai district of east Mizoram, three Assamese citizens were apprehended in possession of heroin valued at Rs 1.13 crore close to the India-Myanmar border. On March 24, Assam Rifles officers installed a mobile checkpoint at a border crossing point in Zokhawthar village in response to a tip, and they stopped a vehicle with an Assam registration number, the statement stated. According to the report, the confiscated heroin was hidden inside a pillowcase. According to the report, the Assam Rifles men also confiscated the vehicles that were used to transport the contraband, which were valued at Rs 1.13 crore.

According to the statement, the three defendants were turned over to the state excise and narcotics department in Champhai for additional investigation and legal action, along with the drug and car that had been seized. It was thought to be the biggest seizure in Mizoram this year when the Mizoram police stationed at Zokhawthar hamlet along the India-Myanmar border seized 4.722 kg of heroin earlier on March 14. Six individuals, including a youngster, were first taken into custody on suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking. Two other people, including a well-known businessman and franchisee of a global retail corporation, were arrested in Aizawl following a subsequent investigation for allegedly participating in the trafficking of the confiscated heroin on March 15, according to the police.
