Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in collaboration with Women in Aviation, jointly organised Girls in Aviation Day 2026 for the first time in Mizoram on the 29th January 2026 at Mini Theatre, Lianchhiari Run. Mizoram is the first state in NorthEast to have this kind of initiative.
The event focused on enhancing women’s participation in the aviation industry. The students came from high schools to higher secondary schools to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for sustainable growth.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vanlalthlana, Minister of School Education highlighted the strategic importance of Mizoram in India’s regional aviation roadmap and underlined the need for collaborative efforts between government, industry, and professional bodies to unlock the sector’s full potential.
The meet featured expert sessions and interactive discussions on emerging trends, best practices, and future opportunities in the aviation ecosystem. Participants noted that such initiatives are crucial for driving investment, innovation, and skill enhancement in aviation industry.
Ms Lalchhanhimi, Executive Officer, CII stated that the joint initiative reflects the industry’s commitment to supporting aviation-led development in the North East, while Women in Aviation reaffirmed its focus on empowering women professionals and students through awareness, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.
Ms. Rakhi Puri, Secretary, WAI gave the welcome address as well as a thank you note. A welcome message was given by Ms. Radha Bhatia, President, Women in Aviation India.
Speeches were also given by Ms. Meenakshi Dua, Member (WAI) and Ms. Sana Mudeer, Member (WAI). Dr. Lalrintluanga Jahau, Chairman of CII Mizoram Council also shared a few words.
