As part of the Central Government’s ongoing cleanliness initiative, Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, seven previously hard-to-clean sites in Mizoram have now been successfully cleared. The campaign, which emphasizes public participation in sanitation efforts, has made notable progress across the state.

Pi Lalrinthari Zadeng, a key official involved in the initiative, stated that this year’s campaign is themed ‘Swachhotsav’. It focuses on five key action points, which are being implemented in district headquarters as well as rural areas throughout Mizoram.

She also stated that in a major push for long-term cleanliness, 200 Cleanliness Target Units have been identified across the state—these are locations that require sustained effort and cannot be cleaned in a single day. Of these, seven have already been fully cleaned, marking a significant milestone in the campaign’s progress, she added.

Swachhata Hi Seva has been observed annually since 2017, typically spanning two weeks across the country. The campaign culminates on October 2, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the nation.
