Shortage of potato supply in the market is normal, a relief to the middle class

The supply of potatoes will start from the cold storage on Wednesday night. As a result, it is expected that the shortage of potato supply in the market will be normalised from Thursday. The price of potatoes may also decrease.

Traders complain that trucks loaded with potatoes are being stopped at various borders of the state without any written instructions to reduce the price of potatoes by increasing the supply in the market. West Bengal Progressive Potato Traders Association and West Bengal Himghar Association started an indefinite strike in protest. The price of potatoes in the retail market started increasing on Tuesday due to the strike called by the traders’ association. The supply of potatoes also began to suffer. A middle-class householder with his hands on his head.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee convened a Cabinet meeting in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. The price of potatoes was also discussed there. He asked Panchayat Minister Pradeep Majumdar and Agriculture Marketing Minister Becharam Manna to take initiative to deal with the whole situation. According to sources, Mamata said in the meeting that the situation will be dealt with with a firm hand. There should be no crisis. And until the price of potatoes decreases, potatoes cannot be exported to foreign countries. After this, Becharam Manna sat in a meeting in Hooghly on Wednesday. His intervention led to the progressive potato traders’ strike. As a result, the supply of potatoes from the freezer will start on Wednesday night. It is expected that the shortage of supply will be normalised from Thursday after the strike of potato traders is called off. The price of potatoes will decrease.
