Unique Identification Implementation Committee Meeting was held today at Secretariat Conference Hall, Aizawl under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Dr. Renu Sharma, Govt. of Mizoram in presence of Commodore Dhiraj Sareen, Deputy Director General, UIDAI, Regional Office, Guwahati. The Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma has emphasized the importance of Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) at the age of 5 years & 15 years and directed the School Education Department to chalk out a strategy to set up special MBU camps at schools to facilitate school children to update their biometrics in a convenient manner.
Deputy Director General, UIDAI, Regional Office, Guwahati Commodore Dhiraj Sareen has requested the Govt. of Mizoram to enroll the children below 5 years through online Birth Registration No. (BRN). UIDAI encouraged Registrars to implement Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) so that Aadhaar No. can be issued to a new born soon after birth. To implement BRBAE in the state, the National Health Mission, Govt. of Mizoram has been taken onboard as a Registrar under UIDAI. For successful implementation of BRBAE, UIDAI suggested that State policy be formulated to mandate registration of births on the Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal.
During the course of the meeting, various salient points were discussed. Aadhaar enrolment progress was reviewed, discussions were held on Mandatory Biometric Update & Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment, functioning of the District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committees was reviewed and scope of Aadhaar usage were also deliberated upon.
