As part of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign (17 September – 2 October 2025), today was observed across the country as a day of mass voluntary sanitation activities under the theme ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath: Nationwide Voluntary Shramdaan’. Government offices, schools and anganwadi centres across Lunglei District carried out cleanliness drives within their premises and surroundings, while also taking a pledge to uphold cleanliness.

In line with the resolution of the Lunglei District Level Committee on ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office had earlier directed all government departments in the district to participate in the nationwide initiative. Accordingly, various government offices in Lunglei undertook thorough cleaning of their offices and compounds today, coupled with pledge-taking ceremonies to reaffirm their commitment towards cleanliness and public awareness.

As part of the ongoing 8th ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’, being observed from 17 September to 16 October 2025, an awareness session on ‘Single-Use Plastic and Waste Segregation’ was also conducted alongside the cleanliness activities. Staff of the District Programme Officer (DPO), Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) and anganwadi workers under the Lunglei ICDS Project actively participated in the drives. At several anganwadi centres, both workers and children took part in cleaning and environmental protection activities.
