SWITCH Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland, has unveiled its latest innovations, the SWITCH EiV12 and SWITCH E1 electric city buses, marking a significant milestone in the green mobility sector. Unveiled by ShriNitinGadkari, India’s Minister for Road Transport and Highways, the SWITCH EiV12 is India’s first low-floor city bus with chassis-mounted batteries, offering a scalable battery capacity of over 400 kWh. The bus is designed to provide maximum comfort and safety for passengers, with a seating capacity for 39 individuals.

The SWITCH E1, engineered for Europe, introduces in-wheel motors and a triple-door design, emphasizing efficiency and passenger convenience. Both buses leverage SWITCH’s advanced global EV architecture to deliver optimal energy performance.

As India’s electric city bus market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 21% by 2030, the SWITCH EiV12 has already received over 1,800 pre-orders, signaling strong market demand. For Aizawl, the launch of the SWITCH EiV12 represents a unique opportunity to enhance public transportation while promoting sustainability. With growing concerns about air quality and traffic congestion, electric buses could provide a cleaner, more efficient alternative for the city’s transportation infrastructure, contributing to both environmental and urban development goals.
