According to officials, the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) Mizoram Chapter, the first of its type in the northeast, was established by NITI Aayog to encourage women to start their own businesses. Speaking at the state workshop on women-led development via entrepreneurship, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma thanked NITI Aayog for choosing the state to be the first in the northeast to create a WEP chapter. According to him, Mizoram’s women are incredibly capable and hardworking, contributing significantly to the state’s economic development.
He also thanked Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of Labor, Employment, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, for spearheading the event’s planning. Paul, a member of NITI Aayog, praised Mizoram women for their financial independence and spirit of entrepreneurship. He emphasized that the Chief Minister’s Thursday introduction of the WEP will be a major catalyst for both economic expansion and women’s empowerment. Paul encouraged female business owners to sign up for WEP and utilize all of its resources.
According to government guidelines, the Mizoram government introduced the “Handholding Scheme,” also known locally as “Bana Kaih,” last year. It consists of five essential elements, the primary one being a bank loan that is free of interest and collateral. a package of financial assistance for specific progress partners that provides partner banks with loans up to Rs 50 lakh. According to him, recipients who regularly pay back their loans may also be eligible for interest subventions of up to 100%, which would be extremely helpful and motivating for those who fulfill their repayment commitments. According to the source, the Chief Minister’s Special Category Scheme, which offers a grant-in-aid of up to Rs 1 lakh, is also included in the scheme.
