In a major push towards inclusive development in the Northeast, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Mizoram to implement targeted CSR initiatives aimed at road safety, traffic infrastructure, and disaster response.
The MoU, exchanged during a ceremony in Aizawl, was attended by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, senior government officials, and TKM leadership. As part of the partnership, TKM has handed over 34 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and 20 CCTV units to bolster Aizawl’s Smart City project and enhance traffic regulation for an estimated 4 lakh residents. Two backhoe machines were also provided to aid the state’s disaster response capabilities in the wake of challenges like Cyclone Remal. A special campaign on road safety and health awareness was earlier conducted for over 800 commercial taxi drivers in collaboration with the Mizoram Traffic SP Office.
In Aizawl, this collaboration is expected to improve traffic discipline and public safety, fostering a safer and more efficient urban environment. The deployment of ANPR and CCTV systems is also anticipated to boost investor and consumer confidence, adding momentum to the city’s economic growth.
