Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra visits Saitual District

Shri Harsh Malhotra, the Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, visited Saitual district in Mizoram where he held a meeting with the Heads of Offices, Village Council members, and leaders of various NGOs from the district. During his visit, he also toured the Saitual District Hospital, Saitual Govt. High School and the Tamdil Wetland. He was welcomed by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lalngura Tlau, district officers, and leaders from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL).  A meeting was held at 10:30 am at the DC Conference Hall, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Lalngura Tlau, in the presence of Shri Harsh Malhotra and officials from various departments. During the meeting, representatives from Saitual District- Deputy Commissioner’s Office, District Rural Development Office, Public Works Department, Public Health Engineering Department and District Education Office each presented a PowerPoint presentation about their departments, highlighting their achievements, milestones and the implementation of central schemes. The Village Council and NGO leaders also shared their concerns and needs with the Minister. 

In his speech, Shri Harsh Malhotra expressed his honor at being the first Central Government official to visit Saitual District, Mizoram, and thanked the residents for their warm hospitality. He expressed satisfaction at the successful implementation of several central schemes, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. He also welcomed the opportunity to listen to the local challenges and assured the officials that any requests would be addressed promptly upon submission in writing. Following the meeting, Shri Harsh Malhotra visited the Saitual District Hospital, where he was received by Dr. Zothanpari Chhakchhuak, the Senior Medical Officer. He toured the OPD and wards, assessing the hospital’s needs and requirements. The Minister then proceeded to the Saitual Government High School and visited the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalaya (NSCBAV) hostel, the Vocational Education building and the Science laboratory, where he was welcomed by the District Education Officer, Mr. Micky R. Lalenkawla.

Later, Shri Harsh Malhotra visited Tamdil, where he met with Mrs. Zomuansangi, the District Fisheries Development Officer (DFDO), to discuss central schemes under the Fisheries Department and review their current progress.  At 3:30 PM, the Union Minister of State departed from the Saihmar helipad, heading towards Lengpui Airport. He will stay overnight in Aizawl and is scheduled to depart for Delhi the following day.
