VK Singh is Mizoram’s new Governor

Former Army chief VK Singh was sworn in as the new governor of Mizoram on Thursday. He is the 25th governor since Mizoram attained statehood in 1987. Singh, a former Union minister, replaced Hari Babu Kambhampati, who was appointed the governor of Odisha.

VK Singh was born on May 10, 1951. He served as the 24th chief of army staff of India. After retiring from the Army, he entered politics and was elected as a member of Parliament from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on a BJP ticket in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
